The Rise of Rise
Rise started from a personal mission to find Home Improvement products that fit in with my partner and our shared philosophies. We strive to live in a healthy home and find products that could help reduce our energy consumption and be kind to the planet.
As we were welcoming our first child, we had embarked on a seemingly never-ending renovation of a fantastic home with good bones that needed some extra attention - these values became all the more important. We discovered that there wasn't a central resource available during this process to turn to for education. Rise was born as a result.
Where it Started
When Rise began, now six years ago, its mission was to be the voice of the homeowner for all things sustainable home improvement - by helping homeowners make better decisions. From photo inspiration to utility incentives and rebates, to finding pros, and most of all, expertly researched and written content - we pushed to provide homeowners with resources that would make their journey to a better home that much easier.
But what does that mean? If you're a homeowner and have renovations or maybe a new build on your mind - where does your research begin and end?
Rise's Jump into Online Professional Education
We were so serious about our core competency that we even extended our tools and content into continuing education for professionals. Our courses are targeted to those who work directly in home improvement and those who influence it greatly.
We do this by working with some of the largest US and Canadian real estate associations, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the American Institute of Architects (AIA), the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI), the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET), and the Building Performance Institute (BPI). This, we believe, gives credence to our pledge to make sustainable home improvement the standard for homeowners and the home improvement industry.
Closing the Loop
And over the years, we received a lot of feedback, feedback on what people loved reading about, or things that could make their lives easier. Out of that feedback, one thing stood out. After welcoming millions of people through our virtual doors and undoubtedly influencing thousands of homeowners to demand more of their homes, we still hadn't solved one of the most important questions that we kept getting over and over. It usually went something like this: "Great, I'm sold on this - now, how do I buy it?"
The products and materials we research and vet are ultimately at the core of the decision-making power we give homeowners, which unfortunately aren't often within arm's reach.
Our company's business model has always been a bit unconventional. We built tools, then we grew an audience and empowered them through education. Now we have come full circle to close the loop for our homeowners.

Our research and writing team will continue to go above and beyond in finding you the best products. Rise will continue to be the objective resource for homeowners who want to turn any home improvement project into a sustainable one. The difference now is that we will go the extra length to make sure the vetted products and materials we guide you toward are readily available to make your home improvement dreams a reality.
